The Moab center point is approximately 1 mile east of Dan O'Laurie Museum and 1 mile east of Hogan Trading Co.

Amazing desert scenery surrounds Moab, the only major city in Utah on the banks of the Colorado River. The landscape is so unique that parts of many movies were filmed there, including Con Air and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. In 2009, Sunset Magazine called Moab one of the "20 best small towns in the West." The city is next to Arches National Park which is famous for its sandstone rock formations, especially the Delicate Arch. Canyonlands National Park is also near Moab. It contains the Green and Colorado Rivers, along with beautiful canyons, mesas, and buttes formed by erosion. Mountain biking, camping, hiking, and climbing are popular. More from this guide...

Whether you're looking for an affordable place to stay, a good deal with plenty of amenities, or a luxury resort, you can find a hotel that suits your needs in Moab. The right hotel can make your vacation a lot more fun and relaxing.

When to Visit Moab, UT

The best time to see Moab is in late spring or early fall when the weather isn't too hot or too cold. However, hotel prices are higher at these times because the city has more visitors. You should make reservations as early as possible to get the best rates. You can find a better deal on a hotel room and still have lots of fun outdoors in summer or winter. Moab summers are hot but still enjoyable, and the winters are mild.

If you plan your trip correctly, you can go to one of the city's fun annual events. The Easter Jeep Safari starts nine days before Easter, and people drive their Jeeps and four-wheel-drive trucks through the rough terrain around Moab. Some trails are easy enough for beginners, while others are very difficult. The Jeep Wrangler Moab Edition is named for the town and this popular event.

The Moab Arts Festival & Beer and Wine Garden on Memorial Day weekend has live music, local and national artists, art for kids, a kids' activities tent, and a food court. You can shop for fine art, jewelry, pottery, clothing, and more. In September, listen to classical music, rock, jazz, and traditional music from around the world at the Moab Music Festival.

"Great Stay!"
Score 4.0 / 5

While I can't imagine how crowded it must get in the summer, going in November was perfect for us. Sunny days lead to great hiking, jeeping and just being outdoors. Wish the stores kept more regular hours, but know they must be looking forward to a break after a long summer season.
