Like much of Ohio, Dayton experiences crisp fall weather, followed by precipitous winters. Average temperatures from December through February are typically less than 40 degrees, and at night, temperatures can reach the 20s or below. In the summer, temperatures typically reach the 80s, and most days feature relatively high humidity.
Since Dayton is a popular business destination, check the calendars for conferences and three-day weekends that might increase visitor traffic before booking your trip. Since several colleges and universities call Dayton home, campus events will cause nearby hotels to book quickly and fetch higher rates. You can avoid inflated rates by booking a hotel in one of Dayton's suburbs, as long as you're willing to drive a bit of a distance to reach the downtown area.
Do you qualify for a senior, AAA, or military discount? Many Dayton hotels offer these discounts to budget-savvy travelers. The most commonly available discount is for AAA members, but don't let that offer deter you from finding a senior or military rate while you stay in Dayton.

I like the history of Dayton and that there is no traffic. The river and parks are very nice. Dayton is a city that needs a lot of help for the future. It would take years for new job growth the way it was in the 60s and those jobs are now overseas and they aren't coming back anytime soon. The infrastructure is there and it can be done but not without job growth.
The city it's self has amazing history and beautiful buildings. I thought it was neat seeing the old trolley wire still above the streets.
Also City Barbecue at 2330 N Fairfield Road was very good and courteous staff.

Played in a baseball tournament north of town. Did not get to experience Dayton fully, but the downtown area was really nice and happening. The dining and nightlife is fun and there are events throughout the year.
The Venue we used for our daughter's wedding was the Top Of The Market on Webster St. It was absolutely beautiful, and the staff was total perfection! The bride & groom wanted to get pictures taken at Fifth Third Field, Home of the Dayton Dragons. Someone there allowed them to enter the ball park to take pictures around the stadium, it really made their day special. Only in Dayton could you find such wonderful accommodating people!
