This hotel has a very large lobby area and is beautiful. The front desk is set up into stations to provide a more one-on-one experience when checking in. The business center is located in an informal open format in the lobby area. The hotel has a gift shop and car rental on site adjacent to the lobby. When entering the far wall is all windows and provides an outside patio overlooking the pond and fountain. The pool has "beautiful" trendy style furniture, and canopies, along with an outside bar. The hotel has an on-site restaurant and I can tell you the crab cakes were fabulous. The property has 393 guest rooms which will soon go under renovation. I was shown two spec rooms which were goreous. The new decor and paint provide a shimmery silver tone and pearlecent color. Very contemporary funishings bring these rooms into the modern era of elegance. The bathrooms have contemporary vanities. The views overlook the pond or the treelined cityscape of the University area. The rooms that are not renovated are still very nice in a traditional maner. Although they seem outdated after seeing the spec rooms, they will not be for long. The furnishings are of quality dark wood with burgandy and dark green linens. The hotel has 20,000 s.f. of convention space located on the lower level of the hotel. The hallways reminded me of a highend casino in Las Vegas with tall bold wood molding and golden walls. The area is very contained and is easiliy accessible for groups needing breakouts. The hotel is located near UNC Charlotte. They have a large variety of restaurants, bars and a movie theater, all within walking distance around the pond. Traffic volume on W.T. Harris is heavy, however, the location is convenient to many companies, shopping and dining.
