The Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte is ready for a new beginning: on 17 May it reopens after a major renovation of the interior furnishings that respects and highlights its identity as a historical building and point of reference for sophisticated travelers.
The first significant change concerns the Ristorante Il Piccolo Principe (Chef Giuseppe Mancino, 2 Michelin stars): it moves from the top floor to the ground floor in the splendid veranda, completely renovated as are the furnishings and interior décor of the entire floor.
Taking its place on the hotel terrace is the Maitó Viareggio restaurant, with a more informal atmosphere, which shares the panoramic spaces with La Terrazza Rooftop Bar.
2021 begins with a major renovation for the Art Nouveau icon Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte, aimed at enhancing and elevating its identity: an elegant historical building and luxury holiday destination par excellence. The architects Diletta Storace and Nicola Spagni started by defining the aspects that have made it a unique space throughout its time.
Through the changes that this renovation has brought, the hotel is renewed while continuing to be a point of reference for luxury, excellence, uniqueness. The new look, together with the refined and exclusive service and attention to detail, creates an unforgettable experience just like at the beginning of its grandeur, thanks to the exaltation of detail, the play of light of mirrors and gold, the ancient doors. Each new decorative element of the Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte is handcrafted to measure from the original models.
This first renovation stage, which began in autumn 2020, mainly concerned the ground floor spaces and a newly designated role for the roof. But the restyling operation will not stop: after summer 2021 it will resume and affect the entire building, including the rooms, to then end in 2022 (the centenary of the hotel).
Ristorante Il Piccolo Principe
The first big news concerns the renovation of the ground floor. Here, the Veranda overlooking the seafront of Viareggio, now houses the 2 Michelin-star Ristorante Il Piccolo Principe, Chef Giuseppe Mancino. The new restaurant is characterized by golden elements with contemporary lines, reminiscent of large greenhouses. The chandeliers are made to measure, the facade is replicated on the columns of the veranda with gilded decorations, the tables are created specifically for Il Piccolo Principe in marble, a precious material suitable to be shown even without a tablecloth. The ensemble is completed by designer armchairs in the finest fabrics and a wall of plants in gilded planters. Even the restaurant's audio system and air conditioning have been studied down to the smallest detail to create an atmosphere without being intrusive.
Maitó Viareggio restaurant
In addition to the ground floor, the other big news concerns the panoramic terrace of the Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte with breath-taking view over the coast and the Apuan Alps: before, the location of the Michelin-starred Ristorante Il Piccolo Principe, now, it houses the Maitó Viareggio restaurant, part of the MyMaitó group which includes the Maitó Restaurant since 1960 located in Forte dei Marmi, a historic place of the Dolce Vita on the Tuscan coast.
It is characterized by a relaxing atmosphere and simple cuisine, respecting the authentic tradition of Versilia, with some reinterpretations. On summer evenings, the tables placed outdoors on the panoramic terrace and by the pool let you experience the luxury of an extraordinary service.
La Terrazza Rooftop Bar
The roof of the hotel also hosts La Terrazza Rooftop Bar, in a panoramic viewpoint above the pool area that offers a spectacular view over the coast and the Apuan Alps. During particularly clear days, you can admire the islands of the Tuscan archipelago and the varied Ligurian coast.
360° panorama, swimming pool, large well-kept spaces, private area, and an extensive and varied cocktail menu, where you can enjoy the best drinks prepared by expert bartenders: it offers a sophisticated and elegant atmosphere and promises to become a point of reference for those looking for a casual yet exclusive luxury.
The main element is the white Carrara marble counter which contributes to the lively play of light characteristic of this unique and exclusive place that also includes a very refined Champagnerie corner where the guest enjoys an experience that involves all the senses.
