San Diego Marriott La Jolla

I was welcomed by a professional and courteous sales manager at the Marriott to conduct a site tour. She was kind, engaged and excited to show the property. The hotel is located directly off of La Jolla Village Drive tucked away by business high rises. The hotel is a 5 minute drive from La Jolla "Village" and is directly accessible to the interstate. The hotel offers valet and 5 levels of self parking which is a daily overnight cost. The property recently underwent a multimillion dollar renovation completed May 2013 and was pristine from the lobby to the top floor. The hotel has large natural light on all parts of the hotel's lobby. The lobby is large, inviting, and neutral colored- 2 story ceilings lit by blown glass pendent lights. Front desk is to the entry left with 4 independent check in stations. All employees were professional and kind. Bar in entry back which flat screen tvs, clean modern lines deep browns, beige, and pops of color. Lobby was active with business travelers during the week day. The hotel has restaurant on site for breakfast and to the right of the restaurant has a grab and go pastry and espresso bar. 3 Elevators, 15 stories, 158 Double Doubles, 165 Kings all rooms have balconies, corner kings have large balconies, 1 presidential 2 executive suites no room have kitchenettes-. Wallpaper in all rooms is textured fabric, large tiles in all entry ways and bathrooms and the rest of the rooms are carpeted. All sinks are outside of the bathroom with large mirrors, bathtubs are low - bathrooms were very clean, not too tight but extremely basic. The hotel's concierge floors are from 11-15. Concierge lounge- renovated 2006- fits 40 comfortably, pristine, ovelooking UTC large glass views. 2nd floor has all meeting space- escalators next to elevators taking you to 2nd floor - 9600 sq feet of meeting space- ballroom called La Jolla Ball Room- and multiple breakouts. All ceilings at the property feel average with the exception of the 3 and 15 floor which have higher corridor ceilings. Hotel has access for outside events with a grass and fountain area Hotel has skybridge to UTC Mall- 10 minute sky walk which connects you to Nordstroms. The hotel is known for their Salsa room which is called La Jolla Social- Wed Free Salsa Lessons- people come from all over to dance. The space is off of the lobby and the sound does not affect sleeping rooms.The renovated gym is large and updated with large glass windows- pool is outside located on the 2nd floor with a pretty view with great sunlight- the pool area was very quiet on the day I visited. The hotel also has Hertz car rental on property- they do not have airport shuttle but they do work with an airport shuttle service.
