The United States Capitol Building is located two miles east of Washington D.C.'s center, at the east end of the National Mall. It is one of the most visited attractions in Washington D.C., being one sort of center of our country as it is. Tours are offered here Monday through Saturday, 8:50 a.m. to 3:20 p.m., and must be reserved online. Parking is very limited here, and it is advised that you use public transportation such as the Metro to access the Capitol. The nearest station is Capitol South Station, while Federal Center and Judiciary Square Stations are not far away either. Other attractions near the capitol include the many museums comprising the Smithsonian, most open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. every day but Christmas, with free admission. These are spread around the National Mall and Washington D.C. Or you can explore the historic neighborhoods in the D.C. area, such as Foggy Bottom, Georgetown, Adams Morgan, and more, with their restaurants, clubs, and unique historic sites. Just travel around many of these communities to see 18th and 19th century houses still standing. The White House, Supreme Court Building, and many more government buildings are here too, some of which you can tour. And there are hundreds of monuments and memorials in the city dedicated to presidents, famous persons, veterans, and more that you can view for the most part at any time.
