This beautiful city was founded in 1825 by Simon Perkins, and it quickly grew thanks to the rubber industry. This industry brought people to Akron from all over the world, and between 1910 and 1920 Akron's population skyrocketed from 69,000 to 210,000 residents.

Akron, Ohio, is home to Don Auerbach and Patrick Carney, two members of the world famous band, The Black Keys. Also born and raised in Akron was LeBron James, who went on to join the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2003.
