This was by far the best hotel that we stayed at in California. The room was truly a dream come true. The entire staff was extremely helpful and attentive. The rooms were luxurious with the most comfortable bedding and pillows. The location and ambiance were also excellent. If you're looking to book a hotel in Monterey this is the best place to stay!

The Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa is my favorite stay in the area. I've never been but my wife has fond memories as a child and wanted to revisit them. The service was great from valet, to bell hop, to room service. They even had a “wind down” service where a housekeeper comes in during the evening and tidies up your bed and room, closes the blinds and adjusts the temperature of the room so that when you return at night to sleep, your room is ready for you to knock out. The hotel is next to the beach and an easy walk to Cannery Row. There's a free shuttle nearby that can take you from the hotel down Cannery Row and back. My only regret is not taking advantage of the hot tub, but other than that, I would go back again to stay, no questions asked.
