Things to Do in Indianapolis
If you're a sports fan, you've come to the right place. Indy is home to the first and second largest single-day sporting events: the Indianapolis 500 and Brickyard 400. Be sure to check out games from the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium, Indiana Pacers and Indiana Fever both at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Other major sporting events include the Big 10 Conference football championship and the Men's and Women's NCAA basketball tournaments.
Art lovers can get their fix at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, a free facility that houses traveling collections, gardens, sculptures and other artwork dating from the 17th through 21st centuries. The museum also has a lunchtime cafe. To grab a bite to eat, head to Shapiro's for top deli sandwiches or St. Elmo Steak House, lauded by the Travel Channel for one of the hottest meals around.
Kids won't to miss a visit to the world's largest children museum, the Children's Museum of Indianapolis. The Indianapolis Zoo, located in the country's only urban cultural state park, lets visitors get up-close-and-personal with 3,800 animals that represent 320 species.
