"Uniquely Comfortable"
Overall Score4.0/ 5
I had the good fortune to stay in a two bedroom suite for three nights in July, 2024. Given that the property is 'historic' I was a little concerned that either ambiance or comfort would be compromised. I need not have worried as there was plenty of both, plus a few bonuses. The property itself is breathtaking, though, I would caution that it is not suitable for those with any mobility issues. There are hills and various heights of steps at every turn. While these might be challenging to some they, along with the landscaping and layout, add to the interest of the property. My suite was nicely appointed and comfortably furnished. My travel companion and I enjoyed our morning coffee and evening beverage from the wicker rockers on the porch. It was the perfect spot to gear up and recover from our planned activities. We both had restful nights and plenty of hot water for showers. The kitchen corner in our suite was stocked with the usual coffee and tea supplies was well as an assortment of chilled water and sodas, no extra fee attached. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. It is obvious that they enjoy working in Montchanin Village. Every question and request was met with a smile and the needed information or service. They showed an interest in our planned activities and offered suggestions of things that would enhance our plan. Each one we spoke with went far beyond the usual key handoff and credit card processing. We had two small issues while we were there though neither affected our overall enjoyment of our stay. The first involved the air conditioning. It was doing its job just a little too well. The staff apologized profusely and indicated that, had I brought it to their attention before check out, it would have been dealt with immediately. I just solved the problem with an extra blanket. The second is simply a warning: the electronic keys are HIGHLY sensitive. Believe it when you read that keys can be deactivated by cell phones, car fobs, etc. that is printed in the check in materials. On the bright side, the staff is very gracious and apologetic when reprogramming is asked for. I enjoyed our stay so much that I am making plans to return. I will be recommending the Inn at Montchanin Village to friends who travel in the area.
