El Paso is the sixth largest city in Texas and sits on the U.S./Mexican border across from the city of Juarez, Chihuahua. The two areas plus Las Cruces, New Mexico, are often referred to as The Borderland. El Paso is known for its interesting history and excellent opportunities for outdoor recreation.
The city is split into four areas including Downtown, West Side, North East and East Side, and the Franklin Mountains and Fort Bliss provide the divisions for each, which have their own unique style and culture.
El Paso is part of the Chihuahuan Desert and in the summer temperatures can climb to 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, while in the winter temperatures drop to around 40 or 50 degrees. The city also experiences about 300 days of sunshine each year.
