The Montreal Canadiens are an ice hockey team in the Atlantic Division of the National Hockey League's Eastern Conference. They have played their home games at the Bell Centre since 1996, after having previously played at the Montreal Forum for seven decades.
The Canadiens, established in 1909, are proud of being the longest continuously operated professional ice hockey team, the only existing NHL club that predates the actual founding of the NHL, was one of the "Original Six" teams that made up the NHL from 1942 until the expansion in 1967, and being one of the oldest North American professional sports franchises of any type. The Canadiens have also won the Stanley Cup more times than any other franchise, winning 24 championships with 22 of them since 1927. As of 2014, the franchise has won 25.3 percent of all Stanley Cup championships after the Challenge Cup era. Using the colors red, white and blue, the Montreal Canadiens' logo has a small white H inside a large red C, all of which is surrounded by blue. The metro system can bring you back and forth easily, the atmosphere of the arena is great, you can see well from all seats because of the steep grade of seating that goes as high as the rafters, and there is an amazing-sized scoreboard. Seats in the club level have unlimited free food and non-alcoholic drinks. The fans are passionate, and there are many festivities before as well as during and after the games. Be sure to visit the team's Hall of Fame which is a shrine to their hockey greatness, the mascot's own Hall of Fame, and the great boutique with awesome Montreal Canadien memorabilia and merchandise.
