Yorkton, Saskatchewan, is a small Canadian city known for historic buildings, walking tours, and beautiful parkland. It was founded in 1882 by settlers from York County, Ontario. The rich farmland brought settlers, primarily immigrants from Ukraine, who recognized the agricultural potential. They were joined by settlers from other countries in Eastern Europe and Germany, as well as Europeans who traveled from the American plains. Yorktown became an incorporated city in 1928.
