Below are reviews of the city of Shipshewana, IN from an actual visitor's perspective.
Probably my favorite activity was the Menno-Hof building. I loved the passing carriages being pulled by stately horses; I didn't tire of the clippity-clop of the horseshoes on the pavement. The shops were interesting and the food was wonderful, really enjoyed the Blue Gate and Das Dutchman Essenhaus buffets. I'll be back to learn and enjoy more.
Love it! Plenty of food and shopping! Things to do!
We go there at least twice maybe three times a year. We love everything about it.
They were all decorated for Fall. It looked beautiful. The bakery Rise & Shine is a must stop! Also E&S is a great grocery store with lots of antique toys on display. All of the little shops in town are fun to see and the popcorn and ice cream are a great afternoon snack. A fun place.
Loved the Blue Gate Theater and also the dining!
Very relaxing environment with a wide variety of shops and almost always a good show in town too. Don't miss the Menno Hof Museum.

Really enjoyed the gospel music at Blue Gate Theater. Josiah for President was also very good! E & S Bulk Foods is where I found something that I can only get in Shipshewana, IN or Arthur, IL. Food was good, very clean little town.
East of Chicago pizza was delicious. We will definitely order more pizza next time we come to Shipshewana to stay.

Great gospel singers and the best Amish plays too.
The Texas Tenors were in town!
I'm a quilter so that says a lot for this city. We saw Herman and the Hermits and had many dinners in the restaurants. Decorated so beautiful for Thanksgiving.
We enjoyed Shipshewana. The flea market was much smaller then I remember but it was okay. I loved the little shops and the tack shop.
The simplicity of life was to me the best thing.
The flea market was interesting as was the E&S bulk food store and watching the horses, buggies, and bicycles. We saw the play at the Blue Gate Theatre, Soldier Boy, which was sensational. We are not shoppers so we spent a lot of time finding the flower quilts and driving in the country to see the Amish farmers in the fields.
Very peaceful and scenic place!
We feel Shipshewana is such a peaceful atmosphere. We always enjoy our visits there.

Very clean and friendly people, small town atmosphere.
We enjoyed the “safe” feeling of the area. We enjoyed shopping at the Mercantile & my daughter specifically enjoyed the carousel there, multiple times. Ben's pretzels was a favorite stop that we made twice. We enjoyed the flea market, although many vendors had already left for the season. Blue Gate & the Essenhaus were highlights of our trip.
Decent restaurants and shopping, plus the great entertainment. We go there often.
Recommend the Blue Gate Theatre and Tree Lighting Ceremony.
