Southern California is generally sunny and warm for most of the year. However, the best time to visit is usually between March and May. Although there is always something to do in Los Angeles County, the crowds are quieter during the early spring months, and temperatures are mild. These off-season months also have some of the best overall air quality in Los Angeles County, meaning you'll feel great exploring the outdoors. Luckily, no matter when you visit, San Gabriel is a hub of vibrant activity with lots to do and see.
You can always explore different rate options, even if you plan to stay in a high-end or luxury resort. Many hotels offer discounts for seniors, veterans, active military, and AAA members. Some will have specials for those who work in the public sector, such as government employees or teachers. When planning your trip, do the research ahead of time and see if these discounts are available. Another way to stay economical is to find a hotel that has complimentary breakfast or parking.
Always ask about discount options that might be available for packages including a stay and access to local attractions. If you want to purchase tickets to a museum and also want to book a room, you might find there is a discount rate for a package combining the two. If you're attending a business function or conference, there are usually numerous ways to get promotional rates for your hotel room.
You can save cash on your stay by choosing a hotel with features like in-room cooking or amenities like microwaves or refrigerators. You can save a great deal during your stay if you're able to cook a few of your meals in the hotel room. Extended-stay hotels are usually the best options for these types of amenities. Extended stay hotels include Residence Inn, Home2Suites, Hyatt Place/Hyatt House, and Hilton Garden Inn.
If the hotel you choose has a concierge, ask them about coupon booklets and discount tickets. They will usually be able to offer last-minute tickets and discounted tickets, and they can advise you about where to go for less costly meals and adventures. Sometimes, they'll have coupons or free meal cards available for you. The concierge desk is a great resource to take advantage of, especially for families or those who are looking for something that might be hard to find, like last-minute tickets to the Dodgers game, for example.

I love San Gabriel for the great food and sense of community. I attended my undergraduate studies here and visit as often as possible now that I have finished my graduate studies as well. The community is friendly and made up of the best people.
