The Pineville center point is approximately the area of Randolph Riverfront Center and the area of Alexandria Art Museum.
Pineville is described as having a humid subtropical climate which means it's warm and muggy throughout most of the year. The average high between June and September is around 90 degrees Fahrenheit while the lows are in the low 70s. The only time it really cools off is in January when the highs reach 60 degrees. If you're going to visit the area, you might want to give it a pass during the summertime and stop through during the spring or fall for moderate temps. Not a lot of rain falls in Pineville, with the average month seeing about 5 inches of precipitation. This means you're almost guaranteed to have perfect weather during your visit.

The area around Pineville is home to six plantations with homes and outbuildings that date to the era of slavery. One plantation, Frogmore, has been designated as a "Must See Site" by Rand McNally. Frogmore is a working plantation to this day and combines modern farming techniques with its past as a plantation that was run by slave labor. The plantation itself is 1800 acres and has a modern cotton gin that turns out 900 bales of cotton a day. What makes the plantation a must-see comes down to its effort at bringing the past to life. The guided tour is sometimes available with live vocalists who sing the songs of the era while the tour progresses.
Another place that is a lot more interesting than it sounds is the Southern Forest Heritage Museum. This museum consists of a fully-restored 19th Century sawmill, commissary, planer mill, post office, and even a working railroad. It's easy to lose an entire day at the museum as you explore all the buildings that went into the making of lumber and take a ride on the trains that still traverse the rails of commerce.
Pineville may not be as glamorous as other cities in Louisiana, but it's a great place to visit and explore a part of the state that doesn't get as much attention as others.
