The Monte Vista center point is approximately the area of Downtown Monte Vista and 1 mile west of Ski Hi Park.
Traveling through the upper Rio Grande river, the road leads you through the San Luis Valley and some of Colorado's oldest communities with great views of the San Juan and Sangre de Cristo Mountain ranges and passing by the Great Sand Dunes National Park. A sandbox of great proportions. The entire dune field is 30 square miles and the tallest dune is 750 feet high.
