A relatively new city, Hoover was only incorporated in 1967. Named after an insurance company owner from the area named William Hoover, it was a small residential community for most of the 1900s. Towards the end of the 1970s, the Riverchase residential and business community was annexed, allowing a large area of office buildings to become available for businessmen to use. Following this annex, Interstate 459 opened with an interchange from Interstate 65 providing access to the city. This provided the easy access the city needed to become a place where people could stop during their drive on the highway.
In 1986, the Riverchase Galleria opened up and included offices, shopping, and hotels. This affected the city greatly, as the tax revenue for the city was increased. Businesses and new residents flocked to the city, growing the city at an even faster rate. The city is now known for its great schools, residential areas, shopping, and business communities. The rolling hills make it a desirable place for those who love to be around nature. Creeks fill the forests surrounding the foothills, making it a fun outing with children. You might also catch sight of some of the many animals that live in the forest.
