It is, on the other hand, closer to many of the parks and reservoirs in the area, so if you plan on hiking or spending time outdoors, this hotel is perfect for you.
Cockeysville is a great destination for people who love the great outdoors. The area is dotted with numerous parks, trails, and Loch Raven, a beautiful reservoir. Loch Raven provides water for most of the county as well as the city of Baltimore. Interestingly enough, the reservoir was made by a dam originally built in 1881, which was then expanded in 1914. The lake offers scenic walks and also has paddle boats for rent, so you can go out on the water and enjoy the tranquil surroundings.
For those looking for a much longer walk, the NCR trail might be a good option. This trail is more than 40 miles long and extends well into the neighboring state of Pennsylvania. It runs alongside the Gunpowder River, which feeds the Loch Raven Reservoir. The trail offers access to the river and is perfect for those looking to do some fishing. You can also ride through the park on horseback.
The area also has a number of regional and state parks, one of which is the Oregon Ridge Park. With over a thousand acres of woods and trails, Oregon Ridge Park has plenty of space to wander. The park is also known for its Fourth of July celebration, which features not only a classic fireworks display, but the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra comes to play for the park's visitors each year.
