Graph of Brookings, OR Hotel Prices for Next 20 Days

Rates shown are nightly rates before taxes and do not necessarily reflect all Brookings, OR discounts available. The chart reflects the cheapest Brookings hotel for each day and each star rating category.

Brookings was named after John E. Brookings, president of the Brookings Lumber and Box Company, who founded the city as a company town. The lumber and fishing industries were early economic drivers for Brookings, which also introduced lily bulb farming in the 1920s. All are still doing well, although lumber and fishing are dwindling. The lily bulb farms, located in a 12-mile region between Brookings and Smith River, California, produce all the lily bulbs that are grown in North America.

You'll find plenty of attractions and activities in the Brookings area, from beaches and parks to golf and fishing. Harris Beach State Park, Sporthaven Beach, Chetco Point Park, and Cape Ferrelo provide excellent spots for whale watching. Brookings also has a number of annual events, including a pirate festival.

Brookings' population in the 2010 census was 6,336, but the total area population is more than 13,000, including Harbor, a census-designated place. Brookings is the largest city in Curry County. Today, many people who settle in Brookings are retirees who choose the city for its mild climate, lovely coastline, beautiful scenery, and recreation.
