"Great Downtown and Even Better Wineries/Breweries"
Score
5.0 / 5
The wine bar downtown was incredible, and run by two gentlemen who know their wine. I would highly recommend that as a must-enjoy while in town. The rest of downtown had some cute little shops, but I found Langley on the south side of island to be more entertaining. There are four or five wineries on the island: definitely worth checking them out. If you are up for a bit of a drive, or have the time/desire to take the ferries, there are about a dozen breweries within striking distance of Oak Harbor and some of the most beautiful scenery you will find anywhere. The view from the top of Mt Constitution on Orcas Island (slightly less than an hour's ferry ride from Anacortes) is perhaps the best ocean view you will get in the United States. It almost goes without saying, but Deception Pass is a must visit as well. If you like good beer/wine and the outdoors, there are few places better than Oak Harbor and the Pacific Northwest.
