The Waycross center is about the area of Downtown Waycross and the area of Willingway Hospital Regional.
Waycross' location in the southeastern U.S. all but guarantees hot, humid summers that are almost unbearable and balanced out by short and cold winters. The best time to visit Waycross is in the spring and fall. If you can skip the summers, do so as the high temperatures can be brutal. Here's a look at the weather in Waycross, Georgia.
The heat kicks in quickly at the end of May and lasts until the middle of September. You can expect to experience an average daily high temperature of 87 degrees Fahrenheit and above on any given day during this time of year. Low temperatures don't give much relief with an average low of 73 degrees.
The temperatures start to cool off in October and the humidity lessens for an average daily high in the 60s and 70s until about the end of November. That's when temps cool off to highs in the 60s and lows in the high 40s. Temperatures start to go back up at the end of February with the daily high around 69 degrees and rise quickly as the days get longer.
Rain is the primary form of precipitation throughout the year although snow isn't unheard of. Expect greater than 37 percent chance of rain between the end of May to the middle of September. The risk of rain drops off quickly after September to reach a low of 16 percent at the end of October. If you're visiting Waycross during the summer months, bring rain gear and warm weather clothes so you can stay dry and comfortable.

The parkland is almost half a million acres in size and is full of exhibits, observation points, and tours. Experience the natural beauty of the land and the creatures that reside there on your own time by traversing the trails and pathways or take a boat tour of the waterways.
If you want to stay on land, there's always the railroad tour on a train pulled by the steam engine "Lady Suwanee". Take some time to visit the memorial for Oscar the Alligator, the park's mascot who lived to be almost 100 years old.
Waycross is a popular destination for ralifans and it's not hard to see why what with over 100 years of rail history in one town. Watch the engines pull the cars across the bridges, stop at the Historic Passenger Rail Depot to watch the trains pass through town, or head over to the Rice Yard to see where the work gets done.
The Rice Yard is home to the main office, locomotive shop, reclamation shop, and paint shop. About 50 to 70 trains come through the yard every day for inspections and refueling. It's a great place to sit and watch trains even if you're not a dyed-in-the-wool railfan.
Waycross may be known for its trains, but it's also home to the Waycross Motor Speedway. The dirt track hosts a variety of home grown racing events throughout the year with everyone racing to get to the finish line first. Many different classes of cars come to race on the track which keeps spectators coming back time and again to see who wins the prize.
