The Saint Paul center point is around the area of St. Paul Winter Carnival and the area of Landmark Center.
Minneapolis and Saint Paul are the busiest in the summer months. Between June and August, the city is beautiful with temperatures in the upper 70s and low 80s. Pack an umbrella, as rain is common in this season. The occasional thunderstorm does nothing to dampen local spirits, however. You'll need to book your hotel room two to three months in advance to ensure a bed during the peak season.
Summer brings several popular events to the city, including Grand Old Day, Twin Cities Pride, Rock the Garden, Basilica Block Party, and the Uptown Art Fair. Toward the end of the season, the Minnesota State Fair closes up the festivities, taking place from August to September, and slowly bleeding into the autumn season.
September, October, and November are beautiful in Saint Paul, with autumn leaves displayed. Temperatures drop to the low 40s by November, though, promising a brisk stay for visitors who choose this season. October still features some worthwhile events such as the Zombie Pub Crawl and the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon.
Come December, you can expect to see plenty of snow in Saint Paul. Holidazzle dresses the city up nicely for visitors who don't mind the cold. If you can trudge through the snow and brave the cold temperatures, you'll enjoy the lowest hotel rates of the year during this season.
By spring, you'll find Saint Paul warming up quickly, and temperatures climb into the 60s by May. Visit during this season and you can enjoy the Food & Wine Experience in March, Art in Bloom in April, and Soundset Festival in May.
If you're looking for special packages or discounted rates, there are several options in Saint Paul. Participating in a hotel rewards program is one of the best choices for maximizing value during your stay. You can accrue or cash-n your points with nearly any major hotel chain somewhere in the Twin Cities.
Stay at Best Western Plus Capital Ridge, and you can enjoy special offers such as bonus rewards points, or packages that will add breakfast to your stay. With a heated pool and spa, this location has plenty of ways to pamper you. These perks just add to its appeal.
Saint Paul has several Holiday Inn hotels where you can earn points with the IHG Rewards Club. Sign up for special packages to earn bonus points with your stay. Packages that add breakfast to your stay are also available.
Value hotels offer an unparalleled combination of affordability and comfort. When you're looking for a mid-range destination that packs maximum value into every dollar, these are the hotels you want to aim for. Saint Paul's diverse hotel selection includes several picks that fall well into this range.
DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel St. Paul Downtown is a prime pick for a value hotel. With a sweet chocolate chip cookie to greet you at check-in, there's no question that you'll have an enjoyable stay. Guest rooms include a microwave and refrigerator so you can save on dining by keeping snacks, drinks, and even small meals on hand. An indoor heated pool, fitness center, business center, and restaurant cater to all your needs. Complimentary Wi-Fi keeps you connected whether you're in town on business, or simply planning the next day's adventure.
Stay at Holiday Inn St. Paul Downtown, and you're in easy reach of attractions like the Minnesota Children's Museum and Science Museum of Minnesota. Distinctive dining is available at The Liffey, an authentic Irish pub. The fitness center, indoor pool, and whirlpool offer plenty of recreation at the hotel. When you want to get out, a complimentary shuttle is available to take you anywhere in a 3-mile radius. In the room, you'll enjoy a microwave, mini-refrigerator, premium cable, pay-movies, and free morning newspaper at the door.
Minneapolis-Saint Paul is surprisingly pedestrian friendly, weather permitting. You can walk to many destinations, particularly downtown. Choose a centrally located hotel near the top highlights on your agenda, and you may find that you're just a short stroll from everything you want to experience in the city.
Bike sharing is another popular option in the city. There are bike sharing stations available throughout the city between April and November. You can buy passes for bike use in 30-minute increments.
Light rail is a growing option in Saint Paul. The system features three lines that service everywhere from the downtown areas to the Mall of America, to Apple Valley. Fares are less than $3, so you can turn to this option when you want to travel a bit farther than you can comfortably walk.
If you're visiting in winter, however, plan to rent a car or rely on taxi service for most of your travel. The non-linear bus routes are far from an ideal option, and you won't want to head out on foot through Saint Paul's snow.
Saint Paul is a popular destination that's sure to draw you in. Though you may come with a few major highlights in mind, this is one city that will always surprise you with new discoveries as you head out and explore.

The Twin Cities of Saint Paul and Minneapolis are a great place to visit, lots of activity with arts, entertainment, and green spaces. These are big cities so have all the good and not-so-good aspects of any big city. Be a savvy traveler, do a bit of research and you will find that the place is charming, easy to navigate and not terribly expensive. Do visit in Spring, Summer or Fall and avoid the Winter.
Proximity to our destinations.
The night life is very fun!
We were there for Albertville Outlet Mall, the Mall of America, Nickelodeon Amusement Park and a Minnesota Wild hockey game.
