If you've ever wondered what it was like to see a movie in the 1930s, head to the Old Greenbelt Theatre. It's an Art Deco building inside and out that's located on the town square and shows second-run movies on a single screen. The interior is well-kept and modernized without losing the original ambiance of the theater. Seeing films at the theater offers the experience of watching a film on a large screen and in an auditorium, something that's been lost in the modern era of stadium-style movie theaters.
The Greenbelt Museum is housed in one of the original semi-detached homes constructed for the planned community. The museum highlights how the town came into existence, how the government planned Greenbelt to be a modern town, and what life was like during the early years of the town. The museum offers tours of an original home that's outfitted with all of the furnishings needed for modern life in the 1930's. There are also walking tours of the town to learn more about its origins.

The city of Greenbelt was great. Several stores in the area and easy to navigate. The Martin's Crosswind Event Center was nice to host our conference.
IHOP and Chevys are really close!
The City of Greenbelt is right in the middle of everything. I had to go to northwest DC and even in traffic it only took me 15 minutes; I had to go to Montgomery County and it only took me 15 minutes. I have to fly out of BWI Airport and it will only take me 20 minutes to get there.
I came for a meeting with no free time to explore. Nevertheless, the environment is serene and welcoming.

There are other stores and restaurants in walking distance of the hotel. An Indian Restaurant (next door), 7 Eleven, Burger King, McDonalds, along with a strip mall which includes a Jamaican Restaurant, are a little further down the street. Going up the street, there's a Rita's Italian Ice Shop, a bowling alley, and Sakura (Japanese Buffet Restaurant). If you want to drive, Beltway Plaza is only minutes away from the Clarion Inn, College Park. That Plaza includes stores like Target, Burlington, TJ Max, Marshalls, a beauty supply store, and a variety of clothes and shoe stores, along with an Academy 8 Movie Theater. Another convenience is Greenbelt Train Station. Taking the subway to Washington, D.C. to explore the Smithsonian Museums and the monument, can easily be added to vacation plans.
