The Logan center is around 3 miles east of Hocking Peaks Adventure Park and 8 miles west of Buckeye Lake State Park.
Although it's a smaller town, Logan hosts several major events each year. On Father's Day weekend, the streets in the downtown area come alive to celebrate the washboard as a musical instrument. The Columbus Washboard Company, which is the last remaining washboard manufacturing company in the country, has its manufacturing facility in Logan. The Washboard Music Festival celebrates this piece of equipment as a musical instrument, which Dixieland groups and jug bands use to create their toe-tapping rhythms.
The Logan Fall Festival of Bands takes place each year on the first Saturday of October. This event brings school marching bands together to entertain festivalgoers with their halftime routines. Another annual event, the Diamond Music Festival, happens during the last week of July at the Insea Sound Shop in nearby Nelsonville. During these events, you may see increases in hotel rates as more visitors come to the area.
Logan has a moderate climate throughout much of the year. During the winter months, the temperatures can drop to the teens and 20s, but the highs between March and October remain between the upper 50s and low 80s. Weather isn't a major factor in hotel rates in this area.
Several hotels in Logan and the surrounding cities offer discounts on rooms. For AAA members, lower rates are available at Super 8 Athens, Christopher Inn & Suites, and Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Chillicothe. Government and military personnel can save when booking rooms at Holiday Inn Express & Suites Circleville, Rodeway Inn, and Best Western Adena Inn.

During a trip to Logan, you can explore the natural surroundings and learn more about the history of the town. Logan has several caves, including Old Man's Cave and Ash Cave, which are accessible via hiking trails. If you're in the area when the weather is pleasant, be sure to spend some time on the other trails, such as the Gorge Overlook Trail, which provides a beautiful view of a waterfall, and the Cedar Falls Hiking Trail.
John Glenn Astronomy Park is also worth a visit. This space is dedicated to observing the sky and is located outside the city, so the lights from the local buildings don't impact your views. Sample some of the local flavors at Hocking Hills Winery, where you can enjoy a wine tasting and pick up a bottle or two to take home. One of the unique attractions in Logan is the Paul A. Johnson Pencil Sharpener Museum, which is a quirky space dedicated to showing off more than 3,400 pencil sharpeners. It's located next to the Hocking Hills Regional Welcome Center.
