The Kenosha center is around the area of Kenosha Area Convention Bureau and the area of Kenosha Public Museum.
Kenosha falls into the Great Lakes region, which often experiences frigid temperatures and severe weather phenomena during the winter. Skip this season if you want to spend time outdoors and dread the prospect of getting stuck in town because the airport shuts down after a snowstorm. However, if you don't mind living on the edge, you'll get great hotel rates and see far fewer crowds if you plan your trip between November and February.
The summers bring hotel rate hikes as well as extreme heat and humidity. Since Kenosha sits on Lake Michigan, you can't escape the moisture in the air, but you can cool off in the water when you feel parched. While summer offers serious drawbacks, it's also convenient when the kids don't have to attend school and if you love warm weather.
For the best of both worlds, consider a fall or summer trip to Kenosha. You'll experience milder weather, decent hotel rates, and moderate crowds. If you shoot for autumn, you'll also get to see the trees and other foliage change colors.
The Value Inn Motel Kenosha offers several discounts, including weekly rates for long-term travelers and construction group rates. You can also score a discount if you take advantage of the venue's Summerfest package. You'll also find AAA, CAA, AARP, and senior citizen discounts at most of Kenosha's chain hotels, including the Best Western and Candlewood Suites.
If you're looking for a hotel that offers excellent perks at affordable prices, look no further than the Candlewood Suites Kenosha. It's a relatively new establishment with a light, bright interior that cheerfully welcomes you to the lobby and your suite. A pleasing palette of citrus colors carries over from the façade to the hotel's interior decor, and the common amenities include a large fitness center, laundry room, and dry-cleaning service. You can fill up on snacks, beverages, and small meals at the convenient Candlewood Cupboard or enjoy a light lunch and casual conversation at one of the outdoor picnic tables.
Rooms at the Candlewood Suites Kenosha feature full kitchens, which means you'll have a full-size refrigerator, microwave, stove, dishwasher, and sink, in addition to cutlery, pots, pans, and dishes. The L-shaped work desks make keeping up with email and other obligations a breeze, and unique photography hangs on the walls. You also get free wireless internet access, two phones with separate lines, cable TV channels, and an in-room DVD player if you want to take advantage of the on-site video rental.
You'll experience fewer crowds and shorter wait times if you visit Dinosaur Discovery Museum during a weekday, preferably before the kids get out of school or after they go back. Lots of dinosaur museums exist in the United States, but this one focuses specifically on the dinosaurs' relationship to birds. Schedule a guided tour in advance if you want the most in-depth experience; a museum guide will answer your questions and show you the venue's most celebrated exhibits.
Consider preparing the kids for the experience ahead of time by visiting the facility's website and taking the virtual tour. When you arrive in person, you'll know exactly where you want to go. Depending on when you visit, you could take advantage of special events, such as Jurassic Park Movie Night or special exhibit openings. Alternatively, time your visit with Dino Digs, which allows kids over age three to "dig" for dinosaur bones at simulated excavation sites. They even get to learn how to use real paleontological tools.
While Kenosha might not seem as exciting or thrilling as larger cities, it offers a historic and culture-rich destination that appeals to families and singles alike and will allow you to relax. Choose from the hotels above, book your reservations, and decide how to prioritize your days in Kenosha.
