The Akron center is about the area of Bruce Mansfield Plant and the area of Akron Civic Theater.
Akron's humid, continental climate can make winter and summer weather somewhat extreme for visitors. Winters are bitterly cold with temperatures regularly plunging below freezing. Rain, sleet, and snow can make this icy season even more unpleasant. Summer swings in the other direction. High humidity levels can make the days, which regularly exceed 90 degrees, feel hotter.
You'll enjoy more pleasant conditions and more affordable hotel rates if you travel during early fall or late spring. Temperatures are pleasant during both periods, with average daily highs in the 60s and 70s, although the weather is usually clearer during the fall. Heavy showers could put a dampener on spring travel if you want to spend time outdoors. Fall days are usually fine, although you'll need a jacket for the season's cool nights.
Some of the nation's leading accommodations groups make traveling to Akron more appealing for selected visitors. Remember to bring valid ID with you to secure the preferential rates.
