The Bossier City center point is about the area of Faith Bible College and 2 miles north of Barksdale Air Force Base.
Bossier City's climate is warm and humid with stifling hot summers and no notable dry season. In fact, the area only offers two distinct seasons: the warm season and the cold season.
Bossier City's warm season lasts from the end of May through September. The hottest days tend to come with highs in the low-to-mid 90s, making indoor air conditioning a must. You'll also encounter larger crowds during the summer, which tends to push up hotel rates.
The cold season stretches from the end of November to mid-February and is the most pleasant time to visit in terms of weather. Average high temperatures tend to stay in the 60s, except for December and January, which are Bossier City's coldest months. If you're coming to the area for the casinos and shopping complexes, it's a good idea to plan your trip in October, November, February, or March. Not only will you enjoy the best weather, but you'll also avoid crowds and enjoy discounted room rates.
If you do your research, you can save even more money during your trip to Bossier City by taking advantage of discounts. Many area hotels, such as Holiday Inn Express & Suites Bossier City, offer special room rates for AAA members, AARP members, seniors, military personnel, and government employees. If you don't qualify for these discounts, look into the hotel's reward program. You may not be able to save anything now, but you'll start to accumulate rewards points to put toward your next stay.
In addition to these typical discounts, some Bossier City hotels offer their own seasonal promotions. Horseshoe Bossier City, for instance, frequently offers 20 percent off if you book and travel during certain times, although blackout dates may apply. Horseshoe Bossier City also offers a 15 percent discount to students, teachers, first responders, and other communities with their ID.me program.
Bossier City offers many mid-range accommodations that give you the best value for your money. Boomtown Casino Hotel is situated six minutes from Pierre Bossier Mall and two minutes from the interstate. Guest rooms are unpretentious and feature flat-screen TVs, paid internet access, and coffeemakers. Upgrading to a suite will get you a whirlpool tub. The property also offers three floors of Vegas-style gaming and a number of dining options, including a steakhouse, 24/7 café, and a Western-themed buffet. There's also a seasonal outdoor pool with hot tub, loungers, a self-parking garage, and event space.
Hampton Inn Shreveport/Bossier City is a classic hotel two minutes from the Louisiana Boardwalk. Guest rooms feature flat-screen televisions with HD channels, free Wi-Fi, work desks, pull-out sofas, and coffeemakers. You can also enjoy a free breakfast buffet, an outdoor pool and patio, free parking, and an on-site fitness center.
Set on the banks of the Red River, DiamondJacks Casino & Hotel is a casual casino accommodation offering low-key rooms and suites. Rooms are basic with separate sitting areas, whirlpool tubs, cable channels, and free Wi-Fi, but with 24/7 access to on-site slots and table games, you'll spend little time in your room. Hotel dining options include a quick-service grill, steak and seafood restaurant, buffet, and sports bar, the latter of which offers live weekend entertainment.
If you're traveling to Bossier City, chances are you're planning to visit or stay in one of the area's casinos. The city's gambling culture is undeniable. If gaming isn't your thing, however, Bossier City still offers plenty of entertaining options.
Already mentioned above is the Louisiana Boardwalk, but the importance of this shopping center can't be stressed enough. Major retailers that occupy space along the Boardwalk include Build-A-Bear Workshop, Bass Pro Shops, Regal Cinemas, Banana Republic, Buffalo Wild Wings, Hooters, Old Farmer's Almanac, and IMAX. In fact, there are more than 70 outlet stores, retail shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues packed into 500,000 square-feet of space, so you're sure to find something you love.
Those that prefer getting back to nature should visit Red River National Wildlife Refuge. Consisting of 50,000 acres of preserved land along the river, this preservation project is the best place to view area wildlife. Visitors can also go hunting and fishing in designated areas and hike the trails during daylight hours.
Located at Barksdale Air Force Base, Barksdale Global Power Museum is a must-see for anyone interested in Air Force history and traditions. The aviation museum is home to a large collection of historical artifacts and military aircraft, including a B-47E Stratojet, a B-24J Liberator, and the AGM-28 Hound Dog missile.
It can take days to explore everything Bossier City has to offer, but no matter what your itinerary includes, you'll find a fun, exciting city that never sleeps. Whether you're looking to book an upscale hotel in one of the casinos or a budget-friendly option near the interstate, Bossier City offers a variety of hotels to meet your needs and budget.
