The public complex offers a beautiful regulation nine-hole course, a full-service clubhouse, a 50-station driving range, and a putting green, as well as an 18-hole miniature golf course with a waterfall, streams, and ponds. Droescher's Mill, which can be viewed in nearby Cranford, is the last mill remaining on the Rahway River and the oldest continuously operated commercial building in the state. Also known as the Williams-Droescher Mill, it's on the National Register of Historic Places. The mill was constructed by Benjamin Williams in 1737 as a sawmill; Severin R. Droescher bought the mill in 1902 and renovated it to become Cranford Oil Stone Works, which created whetstones and oilstones.
Also in Cranford, the Crane-Phillips House is a Victorian cottage that was constructed using the architectural style of Andrew Jackson Downing, the first architect in the United States. Known as The Little House on the Railway, the structure is now a museum. Josiah Craig initially built the house in about 1840 for his son, Josiah Crane Jr., who sold the property to Henry and Cecilia Phillips in 1867. They expanded on the cottage in the Downing style and lived there until Henry died in 1911. The Crane-Phillips House is also on the National Register of Historic Places.
Among the exhibits in the museum are Native American, American Revolutionary War, and American Civil War artifacts. You'll also find 19th-century tools and farm implements, a Victorian parlor, a Victorian girl's bedroom from around 1870, and more.
