Visit Downers Grove in spring or fall to enjoy warm temperatures, low crowd levels, and some exciting festivals in nearby Chicago. The city hosts the Chicago Improv Festival and Mayfest in May, the Chicago Jazz Fest in September, and the Chicago International Film Festival in October. Daytime temperatures range from the high 50s to the low 70s. However, it can get cool at night, so make sure to bring a jacket. Wet weather gear is also smart when vacationing in the spring.
As a small village, Downers Grove doesn't get as crowded as other tourist areas, including downtown Chicago, through most of the summer. However, hotel prices do typically rise when Chicago is hosting its most popular summer festivals. Travelers who can't find affordable accommodations in the city due to higher-than-normal tourist numbers tend to look to the surrounding suburbs like Downers Grove. The temperature doesn't usually get past the mid-80s, but high humidity can make Downers Grove feel much warmer.
Illinois winters are notoriously bitter. Temperatures will hover around the low 30s to high 40s during the day, but the chilly winds can make it feel so much colder. Avoid Downers Grove between November and March to save your teeth chattering. You'll likely have much more fun in the village when the weather warms.

All of the action happens downtown, 22 miles west of Chicago. It's looking like a brand new village these days, after extensive renovations in 2001. New sidewalks, signage, park benches, and landscapes have helped make downtown Downers Grove look better than ever. Admire the handiwork as you browse the wide variety of retail outlets in Downers Park Plaza, Finley Square, and The Grove Shopping Center. When your tummy rumbles, downtown Downers Grove has the restaurant you're looking for. Local eateries serve a diverse selection of food, including classic American, Brazilian, Caribbean, Greek, and Pakistani fare.
A visit downtown isn't complete until you see a movie at the Tivoli Theater. It first opened its doors in 1928, making it one of the oldest movie theaters in the United States. Its history makes seeing films here such a special experience. The theater is next to a bowling center and games room, perfect for those fun family outings or romantic date nights.
Downtown Downers Grove also hosts several seasonal celebrations. Halloween window painting makes Downers Grove feel a little spookier in October. The Downers Grove tree lighting ceremony lets locals know Christmas is officially on its way.
The scenic nine-hole Downers Grove Golf Course is the ideal place for practicing your swing. It's a challenging course recommended for average to highly skilled players, but even if you don't measure up, you'll probably still have a lot of fun.
Downers Grove has a much more relaxed feel than nearby Chicago, but don't accuse it of being sleepy. With great restaurants, local festivals, and a variety of attractions, you'll find enough to hold your attention while vacationing in Downers Grove.

Accommodations worked out great, a very convenient location!
The hotel is so accessible to shopping and dining!
Lots of restaurants and stores. Well cared for.
Location of the hotel may appear to be crazy and loud being by so many restaurants and the expressway but believe it or not, it isn't. Having all those options for stores and restaurants there is amazing especially if you don't have a vehicle or if you want to take a walk it is not very far.
