A physically and energetically beautiful “old world” city - cobbled streets, containers of colorful potted flowers (annuals such as petunias and geraniums) hanging from the old fashioned lamp posts and many side rails of the picturesque canals. Leiden appears well maintained with little trash and litter on the streets.
