The Franklin center is about the area of Franklin Civil War Museum.
Franklin experiences four distinct seasons, so be mindful of the weather when planning your visit. Wintertime can be quite charming, especially when Main Street is decked out for its Christmas festival, but the entire Nashville area can feel a little gloomy from November to March, and winter temperatures can get chilly. With the exception of the holidays, you can score some incredible hotel rates during this time. If you do plan to visit Franklin during the winter months, keep in mind that Nashville hosts the popular CMA Awards in November and A Country Christmas in December, which tend to draw in larger crowds.
The best time to visit Franklin is from April to October when the weather is sunny. It's a good idea to pack for all types of weather conditions, though, as the Nashville area experiences some fickle weather. Highs in Franklin can creep into the 90s in July, but they hover around the low 70s in early spring and fall. Hotels do increase their room rates during the summer, so if you're wanting to get the best deals, schedule your trip for the spring and fall shoulder seasons. This will also help you avoid the crowds.
If you know where to stay, you can find some amazing discounts and special offers at area Franklin hotels. AAA members, AARP members, active military, veterans, and government employees can save as much as 20 percent off area hotels like the Embassy Suites by Hilton Nashville South Cool Springs. This accommodation also offers a variety of special packages throughout the year. Book one of these packages to enjoy extras such as a premium Wi-Fi upgrade, free nights, double points rewards, late check-out, and more.
Hampton Inn & Suites Nashville/Franklin (Cool Springs) also offers AAA, AARP, senior, and military discounts. The hotel's special romance package goes a step further to include chocolates, a bottle of bubbly, and fresh flowers. Package options vary by hotel chain and tend to change with the seasons, so research your options early to take advantage of the best discounts and add-on deals.
Franklin (and the greater Nashville area) offers several mid-range accommodations that give you plenty of value for the money. Aloft Nashville – Cool Springs is a trendy hotel in Franklin offering a 24-hour pantry, an indoor saltwater pool, an on-site bar, free Wi-Fi, and dog treats for your canine traveling companion. The hotel places you mere steps from CoolSprings Galleria, which gives you access to plenty of shopping and dining options. Sleek rooms feature in-room movies, LCD flat-screen TVs, king or queen beds, high ceilings, complimentary bottled water, spa bath amenities, a free daily newspaper, maid service, and data port lines.
For a more casual stay, book the Comfort Inn on Franklin Commons Court. Conveniently located off the interstate, this pet-friendly hotel is just a short drive from Nashville, Carnton Plantation, Pinkerton Park, the Galleria, Arrington Vineyards, and The Carter House State Historic Site. Guest amenities include an indoor heated pool, fitness center, free full breakfast, and free parking.
If you're hoping to explore beyond Main Street, Franklin offers a variety of historic sites worth visiting. The historic Carnton Plantation was built in 1826 and features a Confederate Cemetery honoring the soldiers who fell at the Battle of Franklin.
The Lotz House Civil War Museum is a home built in 1858 that's currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The museum allows you to catch a glimpse through time to the Civil War era, when the Lotz family lived here.
Other historically relevant sites in Franklin include the Carter House, Winstead Hill Park, and Confederate Memorial Park at Winstead Hill. You should also stroll around Franklin on foot to discover the city's many historic buildings for yourself.
