The Edinburgh center point is approximately the area of Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the area of The Royal Mile.
I rented a car at the Edinburgh airport and was happy it included a navigation system. It is hard enough driving on the left side of the road, but with the steering wheel on the right and the added stress of a foreign city, it was quite the experience. I spent one day touring the Edinburgh castle, built in 1430. I strolled through Old Town, the medieval mile long street that links the castle with Holyrood, the cozy royal residence. Scotland's festive capital offers wonderful architecture, shopping and outdoor activities; something fun for everyone!

Below are reviews of the city of Edinburgh, Scotland from an actual visitor's perspective.
A Great Relaxing Luxury Base To Enjoy With An Excellent Location From Which To Explore! Fantastic location just a very short walk from Waverley Station onto Prince's Street. The views from from the bay picture windows are captivating - a great place from which to absorb the sweeping cityscape and watch the world go by down below. Rooms recently refurbished with luxury bathrooms installed and plenty of room to relax on the sofa. Breakfast was a delicious delight, wide range of dishes to graze through very well prepared (mushrooms perfectly cooked and haggis as it should be sans skin). Juices, jams and smoothies on tap. To be enjoyed in a large open dining room with huge bay windows and generous aisles making it relaxing and open to navigate. Good value for money with a friendly staff always happy to oblige and smooth your stay. The level of professional presentation is excellent all round but never overbearing. A place to return to for sure!
It's spookiness!

The fantastic history and sites of Edinburgh!
Edinburgh was fabulous!
Old World feel. Very friendly.
I truly enjoyed the walkability of the city especially the hidden stairwells. The people of Edinburgh could not have been kinder, always providing information and assistance.
Edinburgh has everything you would expect of a capital plus the added extra wow factor with the amazing buildings & architecture.
We loved seeing all the historic buildings and quirky little shops off the main city centre. The national museum is definitely worth a visit, you could spend all day there. Especially good if the weather is not so good. Lane 7 in the John Lewis centre is a great place for adults and children with bowling lanes and great food. My daughter for the vegan menu very good. Lovely city with many places to visit for everyone in the family. Great walks if you bring your dogs too.
Lovely!
Lovely walk from Moray place round the back of the castle and down the Royal mile to Holyrood and Scottish parliament.
