The Niagara Falls center point is about the area of Downtown Niagara Falls and the area of Shaw Festival Theatre.
The humid continental climate in Niagara Falls means the area has four distinct seasons that are moderated by nearby Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. At the peak of summer in July and August, high temperatures typically reach the low 80s, and in the winter, temperatures can dip into the upper teens. Both spring and fall temperatures average in the mid-60s or upper 50s.
Fall is the rainy season in Niagara Falls, so be sure to pack a raincoat or an umbrella if you visit in September, October, or November. The area receives an average of 12 to 18 inches of snow during each winter month, and January is generally the snowiest of them all. Despite the snow and cold temperatures, however, winter remains a popular time to visit Niagara Falls, thanks to the area's seasonal beauty and year-round activities.
If you're planning your visit around one of the area's annual festivals, be sure to book accommodations in advance. With an event calendar like this, it's no surprise that hotels in Niagara Falls can fill up quickly.
The Niagara Falls region is known for its juicy grapes, and wine lovers can take their pick from a handful of wine festivals throughout the year. The New Vintage Festival celebrates the current year's grapes in June, while the Niagara Icewine Festival starts the year on the right foot in January. In September, eight regional vineyards welcome visitors to the Niagara Wine Festival.
At the height of summer, the Niagara Jazz Festival attracts dozens of musicians and thousands of music fans. When the weather turns chilly, the Winter Festival of Lights is sure to keep you warm. Walk or drive the five-kilometer route along the Niagara Parkway, and get cozy with activities throughout town.
Many Niagara Falls hotels are affordable year round, but you'll get even more savings when you apply standard hotel discounts. AAA and CAA members save about 10 percent on rooms at the Super 8 Niagara Falls North and the Days Inn & Suites by the Falls - Centre Street.
AARP members and senior travelers get an average of 10 to 15 percent off at the Clifton Victoria Inn at the Falls and the Marriott Niagara Falls Fallsview Hotel and Spa. Government employees and members of the military get guaranteed low rates at the Travelodge at the Falls and other area hotels.
Get the space you need for the price you want at these best value options in Niagara Falls.
Niagara Falls has plenty of fun for the whole family, but if you're looking for a little something extra, set your sights on the Crowne Plaza Niagara Falls Fallsview. This family-friendly hotel is in the heart of Niagara Falls and is home to a year-round indoor water park. Hop on the water slides and splash around at the water park, or book a massage using the hotel's spa services. The hotel also offers 7,500 square feet of available event space.
Situated just blocks from the Rainbow Tower and the Fallsview Indoor Water Park, the Clifton Victoria Inn at the Falls couldn't be more convenient for families. Take your pick from a standard room, a superior room with jetted tub, a junior suite with city view, or a Jacuzzi suite. Rooms include flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and complimentary newspapers, while the hotel offers a year-round indoor pool, a spa tub, and a sauna. Take advantage of the free parking to save more during your stay.
Considered one of the best ways to see Niagara Falls, the Maid of the Mist certainly provides a memorable trip. Put on a poncho, hop on board one of the signature boats, and float within a few hundred feet of the falls. You'll almost certainly get sprayed by the powerful falls, but it's all part of the fun.
Get a whole new perspective on the city and the surrounding waterfalls from the Niagara SkyWheel. This large Ferris wheel allows you to see for miles around, and it's a particularly popular spot on weekend nights, when you can see light shows and fireworks from above.
Try your luck at the Niagara Fallsview Casino, one of the most popular casinos in town. This expansive hall boasts 150 table games, over 1,000 slot machines, and hundreds of thousands of square feet of shopping space. There are also over a dozen restaurants ready to satisfy your appetite.
Get away from the city with a visit to the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens. This beautiful facility has over 100 acres of gardens, as well as the much-loved Butterfly Conservatory, home to more than 1,000 butterflies.
From the falls to the casinos to the gardens, Niagara Falls has it all. No matter what type of trip you're planning, this classic destination makes for the perfect vacation getaway.
Niagara Falls arguably rates as one of North America's kitschiest icons, its spectacular cascade flanked by a phalanx of clubs, a casino, and a Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum. It was once the world's honeymoon capital for nervous brides and grooms. Though the shores are lined with man-made distractions, the cascade itself is a thing of sheer glory, spewing more than 1.5 million gallons per second over a 170-foot drop. A short drive away from the falls' Canadian side lays its alter ego, the gracious city of the same name. It is a decidedly pretty and homey place, with flowers spilling from baskets along the street and horse carriages offering rides. But what sets the city apart from other sweet towns, is both wine and the literary blooms presented annually at the Shaw Festival. There are a lot of lodging places in the city, regardless, be sure to stop in at the clubby Prince of Wales Hotel, a town nexus since 1864, and the 1824 Oban Inn. If these seem pricey, walk around the town or by the river, stop in at the farmers market, and just take in the fresh air. All are free.
Below are reviews of the city of Niagara Falls, ON from an actual visitor's perspective.

It has been our place to go for over 50 years. 50th wedding anniversary was this trip!
Walking in the Niagara Parks along side the Falls is fantastic.
Clean, comfortable, great breakfast, helpful and pleasant staff! The city has many restaurants to choose from. Niagara Falls is a great city to visit.
Light show was FANTASTIC!
Whenever we come to Niagara Falls, we do something touristy like a haunted house or a wax museum. They're fun. This time we went to the Power Station and the Tunnel and thought it was amazing. A great attraction. There was lots of parking at various price points. The touristy areas are kept clean and there are lots of options for mid to low price meals, however, we only ate at the hotel.
There was a lot for our hockey playing grandsons to take in! We older folks just enjoyed watching their games and visiting with each other.
Niagara falls was great. The attractions were amazing. I recommend Rainforest Cafe if you have a family.
Awesome city! Love coming here to visit
Niagara Falls is a beautiful place. Being retired now I am thinking about moving into the area
It was so convenient to have everything in close proximity. Everything was max a 10 minute drive.
The Falls and the park area on the Canadian side are very well kept and the international tourists made it extra special
Visited Marineland on the last day of the season. Amazing dolphin show. Tried the longest ever ride in the world: The Dragon Mountain. Scary yet thrilling. Fireworks at night with colorful falls-Breathtaking!! Went to see The Niagara Floral clock, it was worth the visit
Amazing place and people can take a walk at night time.
I was in town for a wedding at a Niagara on the Lake venue so I didn't do any sightseeing.
The location was perfect very close to everything within walking distance the city was clean and peaceful and lively!
The location was perfect; very close to everything, within walking distance.
sensationnel les aménagements pour la chute et aussi le parc d'amusement
I liked that the Niagara Parks gave discounted bus passes if you bought one for five events. The restaurants had good food and reasonable prices. I loved Marineland. The people and bus drivers were friendly. Overall I got a very good impression of Niagara Falls.
I liked that it had a lot going on for all ages.

A view of the falls from hotel room and hotel restaurant. Shopping. A short drive to Niagara on the Lake, etc.

Great outlet shopping, brand names at a very good discount. Love driving by Niagara Falls.
Nice city to visit.
It's a nice city.
Excellent sights and things to do.
Impressed with all expansion since last visit. People all very friendly. Feel public restrooms would be helpful on the hill especially for seniors children and day visitors. The hotel is newly remolded and clean.
We are a family oriented community, so to be able to bring our families to the falls and to see the smiles on our babies faces enjoying themselves, was the best!
Lots of attractions and many things to keep you occupied.
I enjoy the excursion on the boat to the Niagara falls.

Being here with some amazing soccer family!!
Lots of things to for kids. Hornblower Cruise.
A lot to do for families, but a little pricey, with the taxes imposed. Not used to a tourist charge!
The attractions in the area were outstanding. We really enjoyed our stay here in Niagara Falls.
We enjoyed everything about this city.
The waterfall is beautiful. The area is clean, friendly and quiet.
Terribly hard to find a breakfast experience that is fresh, tasty yet reasonably priced. The boat trip at night was great but once is enough.... sorry I wasn't impressed with ANYTHING but Niagara on the Lake, That was nice and very quaint.
The arenas were close by for our team sports!
Everything, just not enough time. We'll be back.
Niagara Falls is a very exciting vacation spot! Its sights are breathtaking!
Access to one of the great wonders of the world.
Atmosphere is vibrant and visiting Niagara Falls will not disappoint.
A very nice place to go with family on vacation.
Niagara Falls Canada is a bustling town of activity. People everywhere all the time. Food, service, hotels seem to all be average, but it is one of the seven wonders of the world and should be seen by everyone. Just up the road is Niagara on the lake. Definitely worth the 30 minute drive and experience the Jetboats.
Walking downtown was 30 to 40 mins. The falls are always enjoyable to watch, and just sitting down in a bar enjoying a drink and watching the people passing by.
The falls are beautiful. Loved walking down the street and shopping.
Friendly people, loved the history and the falls were beautiful.
The Falls themselves are spectacular. Beautiful gardens on the Canadian side. Intimate connection to rapids and the Falls on the American side especially on Goat Island.
Niagara had many lovely places to visit with the falls being the most beautiful of all. Clifton Hill had things to see for all ages. You are never left wondering what to do. The Rainforest Cafe is a lovely place to dine with enough going on to keep any child's interest while enjoying your meal. Niagara Falls is definitely worth a visit.
We enjoyed seeing the falls. A definite visit.
Lots of things to do and the sites are beautiful.
It is a beautiful city with so much to do for every age group. The best form of traveling around the city would be walking as the streets can get very congested.
It has a really good family atmosphere. However, the food and beverage prices were too high.
the WEGO bus and admission to attractions well worth it. Not very good parking areas.
The magnificent Falls and beautiful surrounding area. I have been there more than four times in the last 10 years.
Niagara Fall is a nice area. The WEGO Bus System is a great way to get around the city, I would recommend anyone to give it a try while in Niagara falls. It costs only $7.00 per adult and 4.00 per child for a 24 hour period. Many things to see and do.
The falls were great even though there was construction in the park. The Seneca Casino was fun and had a very good buffet.
Great. A must visit.
