What time of year is best to visit Marquette, MI?
As a result of its location next to Lake Superior, Marquette experiences four distinct seasons strongly moderated by the lake. During the summer, the lake offers a cooling effect. June through August has average highs in the upper 60s and low 70s Fahrenheit. This temperature range makes summer the most popular season for visiting Marquette and exploring the outdoor attractions. Be prepared to find that hotels will charge higher prices for rooms during this time.
During the fall, Lake Superior starts releasing heat that it has accumulated over the summer, so temperatures stay slightly warmer longer. September has average highs in the upper 60s, and October offers average highs in the low 50s. However, once all the warmth leaves the lake, temperatures immediately begin to plummet, with November having average highs in the low 40s. If you plan a trip to Marquette in early fall, you can usually find mild weather to go along with lower hotel rates.
If your goal is to find the cheapest hotel rates possible in Marquette, you'll want to plan your trip for the winter. Just remember you'll also want to make sure you pack warm clothes. Even though the lake gives Marquette slightly warmer temperatures than inland locations, it also produces several lake-effect snowstorms, making the area one of the snowiest locations in the country. December through March has average highs in the upper 20s, and each month receives between 20 and 29 inches of snow.
Spring comes late to Marquette. April sees average highs in the upper 40s, and May gets highs in the upper 50s. Although the season is generally mild, weather can change quickly and dramatically. However, if you don't mind taking a chance and planning your trip during spring, you can take advantage of low hotel prices.

We have always liked the area. Going to the beaches, listening to the waves, it's so relaxing. Watching the breathtaking sunsets. There are so many different things to do from just sitting in the park, just watching the on goings of the people to hiking, biking, boating, checking out all of the history of the area and walking around to all the stores and shops, skiing, bird watching, going to Presque Isle Park and watching the freighters get loaded. This is not an area you want to be inside to enjoy.
