The Anaheim center point is approximately the area of Downtown Disney and the area of Disneyland.
Orange County's most important city is Anaheim, home to Disneyland's “the Happiest Place on the World”. Anaheim and its neighboring cities are also home to other major attractions: Angel Stadium, Crystal Cathedral, Honda Center, Knott's Berry Farm, South Coast Plaza, and so much more. It is located in a great central location, with three airports close by. It is one hour south of LA/ LAX, 20 minutes to John Wayne Santa Ana Airport, and 40 minutes to Ontario International Airport. It is 20 minutes from several local beaches like Huntington Beach and Newport Beach, 20 minutes to Irvine, and 2 hours north of San Diego.
When visiting somewhere like Anaheim which attracts tourists mainly for a theme park, the best times to visit are typically while school is in session. You'll deal with fewer crowds, and you might be able to find slightly lower hotel rates. Spring, from April through May, or fall right after school starts (late September through October) are the seasons which will have the nicest weather. When you want to visit Anaheim in the summer, you should book in advance since this is when most people bring their kids to Disney.Anaheim still has reasonably good weather in winter, especially compared to what people who live in the north typically experience. The winter weather tends to pull crowds to Anaheim and Disney, so you'll see more crowds and increases in hotel rates during the winter. If you're planning to visit around a holiday like Thanksgiving or Christmas, expect lots of crowds and book well in advance. Also, remember the holidays that might give some school districts three-day weekends, like Martin Luther King Day and Presidents Day. Watch out for March in Anaheim, too, since the spring break season will draw extra crowds and may bump up hotel prices.
Getting discounts on already great hotel rates is the best, and many Anaheim hotels offer AAA, AARP, senior, and military discounts. The Best Western Plus Pavilions offers the same discount for AAA members, seniors, and military. So does the Best Western Plus Stovall's Inn. Both hotels are located in Anaheim and offer reasonably priced rooms. The Residence Inn by Marriott Long Beach offers a significant discount for seniors. Their senior discount applies if you're 62 or older and show your ID at check-in. You can save over $20 more than the AAA rate at the Residence Inn. If you're not a senior, the AAA rate still isn't shabby, and will save you about $10 depending on the room. This comfortable hotel has a 24-hour fitness center, a spa tub, and an outdoor pool. Plus, rooms come with kitchens, private balconies, and free Wi-Fi.Military and government employees will get a great discount at the Rodeway Inn Long Beach. The lowest prices they offer come with their military discount. The hotel, which offers complimentary breakfast and free Wi-Fi, also gives AAA and senior discounts, as long as you have your AAA card or your ID when you check in. Their AARP discount is better than their AAA discount, so the Rodeway Inn is also a smart choice for seniors looking to save a few bucks.
When you book a hotel, you want to know you're getting the most for your dollar. Great amenities and guest satisfaction make these hotels great if you're looking for a good value in a reasonable price range. The Super 8 Anaheim Near Disneyland is within a mile of Disneyland and Downtown Disney. It offers a pool and is a good place for families to stay. The facility is a little old, but the hotel has great amenities like free Wi-Fi and a complimentary breakfast.America's Best Value Inn & Suites at the Park/Convention Center is also centrally located and very near Disney. Like the Super 8, it offers an outdoor pool, free Wi-Fi, and a free continental breakfast. If you're staying for business, you'll like that they offer copying and faxing services. America's Best Value Inn also uses biodegradable bathroom products, so your trip will be a little greener when you choose this hotel. If you want something a little more upscale without going the luxury route, the Anaheim Majestic Garden Hotel is a 3.5-star property with rates well under $150 a night depending on the season. A stay there puts you very close to Disneyland and the Anaheim Museum. Get amenities like a pillowtop mattress, free Wi-Fi, a health club, and a game room. The hotel also has a restaurant which offers room service.
