The St. Pete Beach center point is approximately the area of Gulf Beaches.
The Tampa Bay area attracts many snowbirds, and St. Pete Beach is no exception. During the winter months, people flock to the area for its mild weather and sunshine, so you can expect room rates to rise and beaches to be crowded in winter. Though summer in Florida is extremely hot and humid, people love visiting the Sunshine State during June, July, and August because that's when the kids get a break from school. The Gulf of Mexico is perfect for families because waves and tides are minimal, and beaches have lots of shells.
If you want the best St. Pete Beach experience, visit during fall. The weather has cooled down a few degrees, and the Gulf of Mexico has spent all summer warming up. Swimming in the warm Gulf of Mexico is a dream, the beaches are beautiful, and the crowds will be a little smaller. Spring is another beautiful time to visit, but you have to deal with a slightly colder ocean and lots of spring breakers, who cause room rates to go way up. To get a less crowded beach experience, head south a few miles to Pass-a-Grille, St. Pete Beach's historic district.
