The Rohnert Park center is about the area of Downtown Rohnert Park and 1 mile west of Sonoma State University.
Summers offer the best time to visit Rohnert Park as long as you're willing to pay premium hotel prices. The average daily temperature hovers around 85 degrees, so you won't sweat too much even if you choose outdoor activities. The tourist traffic increases significantly, so you might face long waits at restaurants and inconvenient lines at entertainment facilities. If you're averse to those factors, consider visiting during the shoulder seasons instead.
Fall and spring bring cooler temperatures, but they also increase the chance of rain. This area experiences significant precipitation, so prepare for all weather possibilities. You'll like the crisp air in the fall, while spring brings local greenery to life.
Winters get a little chilly in Rohnert, so avoid vacationing here between November and February unless you enjoy feeling a nip in the air. Lows during the winter routinely dip into the 30s, though the days often warm up considerably. Just remember that you're taking a gamble on the weather if you decide to visit in winter.

Many people come to Rohnert specifically for the wine country. You'll find wineries all over the area, from the most upscale to the most laid-back. Start with the Matanzas Creek Winery, which is renowned for its delicious Sauvignon blanc and its ability to accurately pair wine and cheese for the ultimate tasting experience. There's an on-site lavender garden that provides great photo opportunities, and you can get a tour of the entire winery as well as a session with the resident sommelier.
You might also enjoy spending a few hours at the Flanagan Vineyards in Santa Rosa. It's a slightly more casual venue with an estate on site and a helpful, friendly staff that have become experts at helping guests choose the best wines for their palates. It's a beautiful setting with awesome views of the vineyards and a relaxed environment for the casual wine connoisseur.
If you're interested in tasting infused wine cocktails, don't miss the P.W. Scoggins Winery. It's a newer facility and it's aimed at people of all backgrounds, so you'll enjoy casual conversation as well as interesting factoids about wine making. After your tour, enjoy a full glass of wine with your tour group while you munch on cheese and crackers.
No matter your tastes and preferences, you can find plenty of ways to fill your days in Rohnert Park. Any of the above hotels will provide you with a comfortable place to stay in between your sightseeing excursions.

Great city with great stores...Costco, Target, Walmart, dollar stores all close by. Easy access to highways.
Rohnert Park is near wineries and other popular areas to visit. We took Highway 12 West to Guerneville to the Russian River and a fabulous State Park. It took only 20-30 minutes from our hotel off 101 North. Coming home we headed on Highway 12 East to Sonoma and Napa with beautiful scenery and lots of wineries to stop at.
