Drs. Arthur C. Scott Sr. and Raleigh R. White Jr. formed a medical partnership in Temple, Texas, in 1897. They opened their own hospital, the Temple Sanitarium, in 1904 because they saw an increasing need for medical facilities in their community. A comprehensive medical center grew from this first hospital and eventually consisted of more than 30 buildings spanning five city blocks.
