The Desert Hot Springs center is approximately the area of Downtown Desert Hot Springs and 5 miles northeast of Palm Springs Amtrak.
With a pleasant climate during much of the year, Desert Hot Springs attracts many tourists. During the summer months, it does get quite hot because of its desert location. With highs in the 100-degree range during June, July, August, and even September, this area is less visited during these months. If you're willing to brave the heat, you may be able to get a lower hotel rate in the summer and early fall.
Desert Hot Springs is also popular among snowbirds who live in colder areas of the state and want to enjoy a warmer winter each year. The average lows during the winter season fall between 40 and 50 degrees, while the highs are in the 60s and 70s.
Several events take place in nearby Palm Springs every year, which can also impact hotel rates. These include the Palm Springs International Film Festival, the circuit White Party in April, a Black History Month parade and town fair in February, and the Arthur Lyons Film Noir Festival in May.
A number of hotels in the Desert Hot Springs area offer discounts to travelers. For AAA members, lower rates are available at Days Inn by Wyndham Palm Springs, Triada Palm Springs Autograph Collection, Knights Inn Palm Springs, and Rodeway Inn. If you're a senior traveler, ask about discounts at Hyatt Palm Springs, Extended Stay America Palm Springs Airport, Renaissance Palm Springs Hotel, Hilton Palm Springs Resort, or Best Western Plus Las Brisas Hotel.
Many of the locations also provide group discounts, depending on how many travelers will need rooms at the same time. Military and government personnel may be able to save when staying at Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Golf Resort Palm Springs, The Riviera Palm Springs a Tribute Portfolio Resort, or Staybridge Suites Cathedral City Palm Springs.
