The Cape Girardeau center point is approximately the area of Cape River Heritage Museum and the area of Isle of Capri Casino.
Winters get fairly cold in Cape Girardeau, so you might want to avoid visiting this city between November and February. While you'll get great rates on hotels, airplane tickets, and rental cars, you'll find yourself limited in terms of outdoor entertainment options.
Summers experience high levels of tourist traffic, which means crowds and high hotel rates. Consider visiting during the shoulder seasons instead. Fall and spring prove temperate and comfortable, and you'll get great prices no matter where you decide to stay.
You can get AAA and senior discounts at the Hampton Inn Cape Girardeau I-55 East and the Super 8 Cape Girardeau.

The kids will have a ball in this city thanks to its abundant family friendly attractions. Start with a game or two of putt-putt at Arena Golf, which is open from fall through spring. Next, head to the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center. It's a gorgeous property that preserves flora and fauna and provides interesting historical exhibits related to the area. The kids will enjoy feeding the ducks at the pond and seeing some of the animals that make their homes here.
Discovery Playhouse, a children's museum, features interactive exhibits for kids of all ages. Whether your little ones want to dig for dinosaur bones or shop for groceries with paper money, they'll have a blast. Alternatively, spend a day or two at Cape Splash Family Aquatic Center. It's an enormous water park with slides, a lazy river, roller coasters, a tide pool, and dozens of other attractions.
Many kids love animals, so don't miss the Lazy L Safari Park. From alpacas and peacocks to hedgehogs and snakes, you'll see plenty of animals. It's different from most zoos because the animals are kept in more natural surroundings, which means more visibility and greater photography opportunities.

Liked the city, very interesting.
The same about Cape Girardeau as about the Drury Inn & Suites - everyone is so nice and so helpful. I have had experience with the Toyota dealership, the AT&T store, Barnes and Noble, Steak and Shake, the stores downtown, the river, Staples, Walmart, McDonald's honestly, I have never had a bad experience at any of the above mentioned businesses. I am here several times a year and look forward to my stay. I hope the Chamber of Commerce takes note, because this sojourner is a big fan. LLAP
