The Stroudsburg center is approximately the area of Pocono Mountains Vacation Bureau and the area of Sherman Theater.
Without a doubt, the best time to head to Stroudsburg is during the winter, when the Poconos get blanketed with snow, providing a picturesque winter wonderland. While temperatures can get cold, snowy, and blustery, it's also the best time to hit the slopes. The Shawnee Mountain Ski Area is only a few minutes from the city, but if you want to tour the Poconos on your skis, you'll still have six other fields to choose from. If you don't feel you have the agility or balance to hit the slopes, there are also outdoor activities such as snow tubing, sledding, and paintball. Hotels fill up quickly during this time of year, so you may want to consider booking your room months in advance.
In the spring, Stroudsburg emerges from the cold with blooming scenery and spectacular green foliage. This provides a scenic background for many outdoor hobbies such as hiking, bird watching, biking, golfing, boating, and more. Temperatures rise up to the 70s during the day, but can plunge down to 40s in the evening, so you may want to layer your clothes, especially if you're going out for an evening stroll. The demand for hotels varies greatly during this season, especially if there's a festival or event going on in the area, so advanced bookings are a necessity.
If you aren't a winter person, then the summer is the time you absolutely have to head to Stroudsburg. Temperatures and humidity never get oppressively hot, offering amazingly agreeable weather. One of the best activities to do during this time is head to one of the many lakes in the surrounding Poconos. However, if you don't feel like making a long drive, take the 5-mile trip to the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, where you can get a tan, go swimming, or play in the 70,000 acres surrounding the water. Rooms are often hard to come by during this season, so start your research well before your summer vacation begins.
The autumn may not have the same amount of activities as the summer or winter, but it's perhaps the most beautiful season in Stroudsburg. The Poconos come alive with the brilliant colors of the foliage, presenting a vibrant backdrop for golfing, hiking, or wildlife viewings. Nearby towns also hold regular events that showcase local arts and crafts, food, and beverages. This is probably the best time to score a deal on a hotel room, although it's not uncommon to have hotels fully booked. Make certain to book your room ahead of time.
The best part about being a member of AAA or the AARP is that you get substantial discounts on rooms throughout the Stroudsburg area. At the Great Wolf Lodge, you'll get up to 10 percent off the lowest advertised price if you're a card-holding member of AAA. Once you've received the discount, you can run amok in the hotel as you enjoy amenities such as a free water park, six indoor pools, two hot tubs, six restaurants, two cafés, a bar and lounge area, and a 24-hour front desk. In your room, you'll find superb features such as a refrigerator, microwave, complimentary wireless internet access, a hair dryer, and a television with cable programming. In addition, you'll be right by Mount Pocono, the Camelbeach Mountain Water Park, The Crossings Premium Outlets, and Camelback Ski Area.
Stroudsburg has plenty of hotel choices if you want some of the extras without spending your entire vacation fund. The mid-range Baymont Inn & Suites provides tons of bonuses such as an indoor pool, a hot tub, an on-site nightclub, and an arcade room. Once you've danced the night away at the club, you can relax on your comfortable bed while watching some cable TV, surfing the internet for free on complimentary Wi-Fi, or taking a long shower with free toiletries. When you wake up the next morning, you'll only be a short drive away from Mountain View Vineyard, the Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm, and Stroud Mall.
When you head to Stroudsburg, there are so many things to do that it's hard to narrow it down to a few activities. However, you should definitely consider it as your prime destination for your next ski trip. The area around Stroudsburg is one of the best in the eastern United States, and you'd have to head all the way out west to find skiing areas of equal comparison.
If you're not into the winter sports scene, don't fret. Stroudsburg has some fascinating and fun things to do around town. To get some exercise while also soaking in some of the local scenery, take a walk through the borough and see several different eras of architecture in the Academy Hill Historic District. Once you're done sightseeing, head downtown for some excellent shopping and dining. Here you can have your fill of Thai food, ice cream, pancakes, coffee, or upscale dining. Whatever your culinary taste, Stroudsburg has something to electrify your taste buds.
Regardless of whether you want unpretentious, low-cost accommodation or a high-end boutique hotel, you can find the perfect place to stay in Stroudsburg.
