The Inside Scoop by our Local Expert
Mention Las Vegas, Nevada, and the first thing that comes to mind are luxury hotels, dazzling shows, and high-rolling casinos. But this popular metropolis also has a hidden treasure: the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. In the past, the speedway has hosted races run by Indy Racing League, Champ Car World Series, and Winston No Bull 5, but these days you'll find events such as the NASCAR Nationwide Series, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, and more. Although the Las Vegas Motor Speedway is the place to go for high-speed car races, the establishment has plenty more to offer. In fact, as of 2007, the Las Vegas Motor Speedway has boasted “NASCAR Disneyland” or what is more accurately called the Neon Garage. While other speedways may leave things to just the tracks and the races, the Neon Garage provides fans with another form of entertainment in the form of live shows. Situated in the middle of the infield, the Neon Garage hosts musical tribute artists, as well as the famed performers, the Blue Man Group. And when fans aren't busy attending the races they can grab the chance to take an official guided tour of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
