For smaller budgets, you can't beat $54 per night, just north of the city center and not far from Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport. We enjoyed the MAPS fossil show at the state fairgrounds.
We enjoy the historical sites to visit and the many different and accessible restaurants.
We took in a concert at the bank of Springfield Center and the parking was amazing, the staff was friendly and the center was very clean. We also enjoyed a meal at Boone's which is not that far from the BOS Center. Very good food. And we also took advantage of taking family pictures outside of the state capitol. There's a lot to do in Springfield that is family friendly and we plan on returning soon
Is a very nice city
It was easy to access where we needed to go to volunteer and close to restaurants and convenience stores.
Springfield was a centralized point where other family members (from 2 other locations) gathered for a Sunday dinner at Golden Corral. The others drove home that night but my sister and I stayed at the hotel. I highly recommend Holiday Inn Express!
We don't usually have time to see the city, but we do enjoy dining at Obed & Isaac's every visit and sampling different coffee houses.

There was a host of visitor spots but the best was their Malibu Jack's Theme Park that had fun attractions for the young and old.

I lived in Springfield previously. The hotel was close to friends we were visiting, shopping and several eating establishments. Traffic did not keep us up at night. The hotel was easy to get to. Staff was friendly and accommodating.

The hotel was conveniently located to many of the sights we were interested in seeing. The Presidential Museum was phenomenal! We visited Lincoln's home. We visited the Edwards Mansion and received an informative and delightful tour of the home. We also saw the musical play "The Lincolns" which was absolutely delightful as well as educational. We visited the (new) Capitol building and appreciated the tour there as well.

We went to the Lincoln Presidential Museum which I highly recommend. It is very well done. Hotel was just a few miles away.

Long Bridge was an excellent venue for my grandson's wedding.

Restaurants in area were very good
Our situation was my husband had to have an heart cath. done so it was a great place for us to stay overnight before having to be at St. John Hosp. by 6:00am and than for me to stay another night as they kept him overnight.

There's a lot to do and I loved the old houses and Ibraham Lincoln's home was very nice very big house and is also his grave site and that was nice to I like Springfield I would come back
We didn't get to spend a lot of time in Springfield. But they did have nice variety of restaurants and shopping. It was Christmas season so the downtown area was festive!
