There are a number of exhibits in the museum that portray the life and career of President Kennedy. The Campaign Trail exhibit showcases his road to the Presidency. It includes items such as convention tickets and the teleprompter from which President Kennedy delivered his acceptance speech. There is also a recreation of a campaign office. One highlight of the Briefing Room exhibit is a replica of the Freedom Bell given to the United States by Berlin in 1950. The exhibit also contains President Kennedy's metal from the Radio and Television Executive Society. The Space Program exhibit includes a model of the Friendship 7 Mercury capsule. There are also numerous videos, including a video of President Kennedy's famous Moon Speech.
Robert Kennedy's documents and personal items are on display in the Attorney General's Office exhibit. Other items include his telephone, glasses, and a toy Teamster's truck. A Winston Churchill bust is also on display. Included in the Oval Office Exhibit are some of President Kennedy's personal items that were on display in the Oval Office during his Presidency. There is also a replica of his desk. Videos of civil rights demonstrations in Birmingham, Alabama, and of Dr. Martin Luther King's "I have a Dream" speech are also part of this exhibit.
An exhibit is also dedicated to First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy. Among other things, this exhibit contains several of the outfits she wore and the camera she used during her days as a reporter.
The library portion of the building contains numerous documents and videos that belonged to President Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, and more than 600 others, including politicians, authors and Kennedy family members. There are more than 48 million items housed in the library, which covers 30,000 square feet. These documents can be viewed by researchers and work is ongoing to digitize the collection. Also housed in the library is the Ernest Hemingway Collection. It is the best collection of Hemingway papers in the world. The Collection is located in the Hemingway Room and takes up 3,000 feet of shelf space.
