The Kingman center is around the area of Route 66 Museum and the area of Museum of History and Arts.
Although Kingman sits near the desert, the climate is cold and semi-arid. The city receives more precipitation than a hot semi-arid climate and the temperatures in the winter months are lower than you might expect, given its proximity to the Mojave Desert. During the summer months, highs are in the mid-90s but rarely exceed 100-105 degrees Fahrenheit. The winter temperatures fall below freezing overnight although the highs are in the 50-60 degree range. Snow occasionally falls, although it's rarely more than a slight dusting that melts when the sun comes out.
If you don't mind the cold, pay a visit to Kingman during the winter months. The cooler temperatures bring fewer visitors, so you can score great deals on hotel rooms. When the summer hits, you might see a spike as travelers take their vacations to see the Mojave Desert and learn the history of this fascinating city. The spring and fall seasons offer beautiful views of the surrounding desert with pleasant weather. No matter when you visit, it's important to use plenty of sunscreen as the higher elevation can result in sunburns, even when it's overcast or cloudy.

Must try Rutherford's restaurant on Andy Devine Street. Excellent and varied menu with quite reasonable prices. It's down past freeway on ramps and two parks on right. Well worth stopping and enjoying their hospitality and mingling with locals.

It was early when I left, south on I-40, but loved seeing a bit of historical Kingman, RR train and a museum I would have visited if I'd had the day to spend there. Shade trees are always an attractive sight!
