Located in Southeast Texas, Beaumont is situated along the Neches River at the border of Louisiana, about 90 miles east of Houston. It was first settled in the 19th century by farmers who eventually developed it into a hub of shipping, lumber, and rice-milling. The city boomed in 1901 with the discovery of the Spindletop oil gusher and later formation of major oil companies. It wasn't until the 1970s that Beaumont's growth slowed and a new focus on community began to arise.
Today, a revitalized Beaumont attracts travelers from around the world to its museums, historic sites, and outdoor experiences — fishing, hunting, and paddling being some of the favorites. Whatever your reason for visiting Beaumont, it's important that you find the best hotel for your needs so nothing stands in the way of you having a great time.
When to Visit Beaumont, TX
The best time to visit Beaumont is from February to April, when the city's 50-70 degree temperatures are ideal for visiting outdoor attractions and experiencing one of many spring fairs, festivals, and concerts. Carnival lovers will especially enjoy the South Texas State Fair — the second largest fair in the state — which attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every March. During this time, you can expect hotel rates to rise, so be sure to book in advance.
Between May and August, you'll experience all that Texas summer weather has to offer: scorching heat, high humidity, and frequent thunderstorms. But you'll benefit from cheaper hotel rates, fewer crowds, and a host of fun seasonal activities like paddling, boating, and fishing. If it gets too hot outside, you can always retreat to one of Beaumont's art galleries, movie theaters, or nearby casinos.
During the fall months (September — November), you'll enjoy much more comfortable weather. Temperatures will generally hover between the 60s and 80s and the rain will slow up, making it easier to experience Beaumont's unique roadside attractions. If you're really adventurous, you can even take a trip into the city's swamps to view alligators and other wetland life. Keep in mind, this is a popular time to visit so you should book your hotel in advance.
December and January are the coldest months to visit Beaumont, so you'll definitely need a jacket. Although temperatures normally stay between 40 and 60 degrees, they can slip lower so be prepared. The good news is, you'll pay less for a hotel and have fewer crowds to deal with. So you can spend your days enjoying the city's museums and shopping boutiques, and your nights taking in a live music performance or comedy show freely.

We had excellent dining out experiences. First was Tia Juanita's fish camp off Calder. We had a very long wait, but we were trying to seat 20+ people, so totally understandable. The food was amazing, and the staff was excellent!
We also ate at Lupe Tortilla and it was phenomenal. They had a large fenced in playground/sand pit for the kids which was very nice! While waiting on seating for our large group, we sat by the fire pit outside by the play area and they brought out chips/salsa. Food was delicious and drinks were great. Excellent service as well.
Willy Burger was extraordinary. It was also off Calder. Great burgers, cool atmosphere and reasonably quick service. Kind of pricey for a burger but they were more of a gourmet burger.
