Bentonville was named after Thomas Hart Benton, a senator from Missouri who strongly supported Arkansas statehood. The community grew rapidly after the Civil War and became the county seat in 1873. The municipality's economy was largely based on agriculture until the mid-20th century, when the Walmart corporation headquartered in Bentonville. Walmart's impact on Bentonville has been profound; the company is the local largest employer and has transformed the settlement into a major retail hub. The early history of Bentonville is intertwined with the history of Northwest Arkansas. The metropolis served as a base of operations for the Confederate Army during the American Civil War. In 1862, the territory was the site of the Battle of Pea Ridge, a Union victory that resulted in the expulsion of Confederate forces from Northwest Arkansas.

The Square and Crystal Bridges! I grew up in Bentonville in the 50's and 60's and miss my old landmarks but my heart is still there.

Bentonville is a wonderful city.
Lots of good restaurants and good places to see like the Civil War battlefield at Pea Ridge.
Was there to see family. Plenty of very good restaurants!
We were really impressed with Bentonville. The majority of the homes appeared to be well maintained with curb appeal. We didn't see any homeless or panhandling during our visit. We came to see Crystal Bridges and were definitely not disappointed. As a bonus, the tour at Pea Ridge National Park was very educational regarding our Civil War history. We loved Bentonville and Rogers!
Loved the architecture, art, old town, restaurants, etc.

Downtown, Meteor coffee shop, shopping at Pinnacle Hills. My husband loves the mountain bike trails.
So many things to do and see!
Lots of dining and shopping options and friendly people.
Close to Bella Vista.
Marlesha Scullawl was a major asset in finding restaurants that would take groups and in letting places know we were coming. She also met us at MONAH with welcome gifts and took group photos of us with her camera and several of our's. We will definitely refer people to visit Bentonville and Marlesha. We all loved Crystal Bridges and MONAH and learned a lot at the Walmart Labatory. The Hyatt Place was excellent in all areas. Those who went to Listening Forest at Crystal Bridges loved it.

The food options are really terrific! Each place we went had cheerful and well trained staff. Going when the Farmers Market is running is always a treat!
Bentonville surprised us with not only the friendliest and kindest people but the food, oh my, the food! Preachers Son needs a serious mention. The Hive, Press Room, Table Mesa, Tavola, all great! The Crystal Bridges Museum was amazing and I am now planning a return trip when the new construction is complete. The employees at the Walmart Museum are to be commended for their knowledge and enthusiasm. Bentonville is charming and a real gem.
We went there for a Christmas experience and Bentonville did not disappoint. We did the Wal-Mart Museum, we drove to store #1 in Rogers, but visited all the Wal-Marts in Bentonville as well because they were each different in their own way. The town square was so beautiful in the daytime and it surprised us at nighttime with all the lights and magic a town square could bring in addition to a horse drawn carriage ride through Bentonville! The food was absolutely amazing where ever we went. We look forward to seeing Crystal Bridges when we return since it was closed when we were there. We will be back. We loved Bentonville so much, we would love to retire there.
Well designed and well kept. Even strip malls were architecturally pleasing. Good shopping, excellent restaurants, fashionable artsy vibe. I am retired and am going to consider moving there. Of course the Crystal Bridges Museum exceeded expectations.
