I know nothing about "Effingham". I just stop for gas and a place to sleep and shower. I'm a driver, not a tourist.

The trucker bar across the street is a blast and great after dinner option for a short walk. The Firefly restaurant is fantastic and also an easy walk down the street. Top notch food and beverage!
Beautiful Effingham Country Club! Great golf course! Top notch engaged pro with student athlete golfers.
Location of the hotel was great with lots of places to eat and there is free EV charging at the Technology Center.

Effingham has a large variety of shopping.
Neimemburg Steakhouse. St. Anthony Catholic Church for Sunday Mass. Convenient location, seconds off I/70.
Friendly people. Was there for vehicle repairs while traveling. GM dealer took good care of me.

We didn't see much of Effingham, but what we did see was tidy. Restaurants and shopping near the hotel were a welcome sight.
Tesla charging station worked great and we had lunch while charging.
The cleanliness of the area and stores and restaurants available nearby.
