#1: Basketball
The Oracle Arena has been home to basketball games since it opened. The Golden State Warriors have been in town for decades, but they once were called the San Francisco Warriors. Warriors star Rick Barry was signed away to play for the Oakland Oaks, but both teams shared Oracle in those days. Other stars for the Oaks included Larry Brown and Doug Moe. The arena also hosted the 2000 NBA All Star Game.
#2: College Basketball
The NCAA tournament has used Oracle Arena to host first and second rounds in 1990, 1995 and 2006. College basketball often does not come calling at Oracle, but Oracle is one of the most hallowed grounds in basketball as it is so close to Stanford and Cal.
#3: Varied Sporting Events
Fighting and wrestling events have been hosted at Oracle over the years. The WCW SuperBrawl in 1999 and WWE Elimination Chamber in 2011 were hosted at the arena, and the arena has hosted several cards for UFC and MMA. The fighting events garner large attendance because of the seating in the arena.
#4: Basketball Today
Oracle Arena is the home of the Golden State Warriors are usuakky on the fast track to make the NBA Finals, but the team is considering a move to a new stadium outside town. The Warriors were once known as the San Francisco Warriors, and they are prepared to build a replacement stadium on the San Francisco side of the bay. Changing the stadium location would be quite a blow for a city that financed a stadium that has housed the Warriors for nearly 50 years. The Oracle Arena has been one of the beacons of purity in the NBA, and it has stood for almost 50 years. More rounds of the NCAA Basketball Tournament are planned, and there are many other events that could come to the arena including the NBA Finals.
